lovely life.

…a sneek peek! a cup of cotter studio

A sneek peek inside my new studio – slooooowly moving /  (waddling) in the 7 palettes of studio equipment and supplies into my beautiful new space. Chester has made the most beautiful yellow and red cedar shelves – it’s torture not being able to lift things and organize the space now that I have it! I know, i know, i know.. baby will be here soon, and then life will resume    ? I hope! I love my new green apple planter barrel that my mom dropped off before heading east last month. Thanks mom!

… Speaking of living spaces.

Here are some photos of one of my favourite people’s little home —-> my cousin Elizabeth Olson Glover. Her art of display coupled with her intriguing little collections of the old + new are so perfect. Also some pics of her amazing style.

mellow yellow

Chester and I are thouroughly enjoying the season change and as my pregnancy progresses there’s so much to celebrate as Spring takes off in full force on Vancouver Island (Oh! the Dogwoods!). One thing we both are enjoying a lot of lately is food – which is why even though it’s 10:45pm we both want Lemon cake. This kind… with a butter + cream cheese glaze….

It’s bad. I know. Any other suggestions?

***Here are some other Lemony things that will tide us over until I can get into town and maybe get a ‘LuluLemon Cake’ from CakeBread in Courtenay tomorrow.

I wish I could be wearing this Nicole Miller dress (~show off my baby bump – I’m so proud of it!)

This is so pretty. i want one for ALL of you. Found Here.

This Hollywood vanity is glamourous. from The Selby

The Selby is a cool website where you get to look at pictures of how Glamourous people live.

Ceramic Design graduate Hamza Vora and his collaborative partner Raneen Nosh have something to show you:

above: Installation views of Fahem, Hamza Vora & Raneen Nosh, 2009, translucent porcelian

I found a link through the Emily Carr University website of a great article from the Vancouver Sun about Vora & Nosh’s peice titled Fahem that was installed in last year’s graduation show at Emily Carr’s Granville Island campus. I’m so inlike /love with art that confronts the history of one’s medium (and in this case – defying ceramic’s “table top-ness” by constructing it as a vertical presence) – and the history of their conceptual process – language and design- cultural history, design history, decorative history – I think the success of this piece is a resolution of all these histories which are being referenced visually.  FMI check out Hamza’s website at here.

***Looking at inspirational work makes me so freaking excited to get back to work – I’m going to go take pictures of my new studio that my Chester and my family are helping wire  / build and then come back here and post them.

and then stack it so beautifully in his new woodshed!!!!

Dad’s Beautiful new woodshed in Campbell River, Western Red Cedar and Fir – 4 peices deep

Dad and Uncle Frank designed and constructed this beautiful cedar shed over the past week up in Campbell River – and then yesterday dad spent most of the day filling it up with 3.5 cords of firewood. WOW!!!

Thanks for the photo – I can’t wait to come up there and see it in person!

Next time he needs to fill up the shed Mom and I said we would help him this design below:
